How to play Hashi

  1. Choose a puzzle, then tap an island. Its nearest neighbors in the same row or column are outlined. Tap a neighbor to connect the pair, or drag directly from one island onto its neighbor.
  2. Repeat the pair to cycle one bridge, two bridges, and no bridges. A bridge cannot run diagonally, cross another bridge, or pass through an island.
  3. Each island needs exactly the number of bridges printed on it. A double bridge counts as two. The small total underneath shows your current count.
  4. Connect every island into one network as well as matching all the totals. Separate completed groups do not solve the puzzle.
  5. Use Check for local conflicts and Undo for up to 200 edits. Switching puzzles preserves separate saves. Restart asks before clearing only the current puzzle.

Controls

Tap two visible neighboring islands, or drag from one onto the other, to cycle 1 → 2 → 0 bridges. Scroll outside the board. Keyboard: Tab or arrows move between islands, Enter or Space selects, Escape clears the selection, and Z or Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes.

A few good moves

  • An island with only one visible neighbor can use at most two bridges.
  • Double bridges count twice toward both island totals.
  • Avoid closing off a group before it connects to the rest of the islands. Green totals alone do not prove a solution.

Each Hashi puzzle saves its bridges, selected island, and up to 200 undo steps separately in this browser. Switching puzzles preserves progress; restarting clears only the current puzzle. When storage is unavailable, the current session still works.
