Peg Solitaire Online

One peg jumps over a neighbor into an empty hole. Remove the jumped peg, then plan the next landing. Start with a short endgame or take on the traditional 32-peg board. One peg left anywhere is a win.

How to play Peg Solitaire

  1. Select a peg to highlight its legal landing holes. Select a highlighted empty hole to jump.
  2. Jump exactly two holes horizontally or vertically over one adjacent peg. The jumped peg is removed. Diagonals and gaps outside the cross are not allowed.
  3. Finish with exactly one peg anywhere. A center finish is acknowledged but never required. Several pegs with no legal jumps means blocked, not solved.
  4. Undo restores the source, jumped peg and landing, including after completion or refresh. Restart asks before resetting only the current start.
  5. Choose from the traditional central-vacancy start and 12 fixed original endgames. Each saves separately in this browser; there is no timer or daily puzzle promise.

Controls

Tap or click a peg, then its blue landing hole. Arrows move focus without wrapping; Enter or Space selects, Escape clears selection, and Z or Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes. Restart asks for confirmation.

A few good moves

  • Look at landing holes as well as pegs. An empty hole can make several jumps possible.
  • Try the short endgames first to see how a jump opens one hole and fills another.
  • A peg on the edge still needs a partner and an empty landing. Undo when a move leaves isolated pegs.

Each start saves its peg positions, selected peg, keyboard focus, jump count and undo history in this browser. If storage is unavailable, switching starts preserves progress during the current page session.

About this game

An independent implementation with original code and artwork. The English cross and central-vacancy classic start are traditional public game rules and layout, not an original opening claim. Puzzle Grove independently reverse-generated the 12 finite endgames and verified legal solution routes, plus a complete 31-jump route for the classic board. No third-party puzzle catalog is copied; no unique move-sequence or calibrated-difficulty claim is made.
