Sokoban Online

Walk behind a box and push it onto a target. You cannot pull it back, so plan the space you need to stand in before each push. These small warehouses offer a finite set of original puzzles without a timer.

How to play Sokoban

  1. Move up, right, down or left. Walls and boxes block walking. Targets are ordinary floor squares that you can walk over.
  2. Push one box by walking into it, provided the square beyond is empty floor or a target. You cannot pull a box, push two boxes together, or push a box through a wall.
  3. Put every box on a target to finish. A target remains in place when a box or the player moves away. Any legal route to completion counts.
  4. A box pushed into a non-target corner cannot be pulled back out. Undo can recover the push. Simple corner warnings are helpful, but they do not detect every deadlock.
  5. Undo restores a walk or push and its counts, including after finishing. Restart asks before resetting only the selected level. Other saved levels remain available.

Controls

Use the on-screen direction buttons, arrow keys, or W A S D. Tapping a square immediately beside the player takes one step. Z or Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes. Moves count both walks and pushes; the push count is also shown separately.

A few good moves

  • Before a push, check whether you can still walk around the box afterward.
  • A corner with a target is a useful destination. A corner without a target is a trap.
  • A longer walk can let you push from the side you actually need.
  • Undo freely when a push closes a passage. There is no timer and no shortest-route requirement.

Each level saves the player, boxes, move and push counts, and up to 200 undo steps separately in this browser. When browser storage is unavailable, switching levels still preserves progress for the current page session.

About this game

An independent implementation of classic box-pushing rules with original warehouse layouts, code and artwork by Puzzle Grove. Every starting position has a recorded and verified legal completion route. No third-party level catalog, game code, or branded artwork is copied. Routes are not claimed to be shortest, and level numbers are not calibrated difficulty ratings.
