How to play Kakuro
- Choose a puzzle, then select a white cell. Its horizontal and vertical runs are highlighted with their target sums.
- Enter a digit from 1 to 9. A clue in a dark cell gives the sum of the consecutive white cells to its right or below; digits cannot repeat within that run.
- Turn on Notes to pencil in possible digits. Turn Notes off to enter an answer, or use Delete to clear a cell.
- Fill every white cell and satisfy every horizontal and vertical sum to complete the puzzle. Check your work, or restart the current puzzle when you want a fresh attempt.
Controls
Click or tap a white cell and use the on-screen number pad. Keyboard: 1–9 enters a digit, Backspace or Delete erases, arrow keys move between cells, and N toggles notes. Notes keep possible digits separate from answers.
A few good moves
- Short runs often have fewer possible combinations.
- Every white cell belongs to an across run and a down run.
- A digit may repeat elsewhere, as long as it is not repeated in the same run.
Each puzzle keeps its own entries and notes in this browser. Switching puzzles preserves your progress; restarting clears that puzzle only.
