How to play Skyscrapers

  1. Choose a 4×4 or 5×5 puzzle. Tap a square and enter a height from 1 to the grid size. Every row and column contains each height once; there are no smaller box rules.
  2. A number outside the grid tells how many buildings are visible looking inward from that edge. Tall buildings hide shorter buildings behind them. A dash is an omitted clue, not zero.
  3. Tap any edge clue to see its direction, the order of squares, your current entries and a visual teaching example of visible and hidden buildings.
  4. Use Notes for manual candidates, Erase to clear a square, and Undo to reverse up to 200 edits. Given buildings have a small diamond and cannot be edited.
  5. Check highlights current row, column and clue conflicts. Fill every square and satisfy every supplied clue to finish. Switching puzzles preserves separate progress; restarting clears only the current puzzle after confirmation.

Controls

Tap a cell and use the number pad. Keyboard: 1–N enters heights, N toggles notes, arrows move, Delete/Backspace/0 erases, and Z undoes. Edge clues are buttons that open a viewing example; Escape closes it.

A few good moves

  • A clue of 1 places the tallest building nearest that edge.
  • A clue equal to the grid size requires every building to be visible, in ascending order from that edge.
  • Look at opposite clues together. A building hidden from one side can be visible from the other.

Each puzzle saves its numbers, notes, selected square, note mode and up to 200 undo steps in this browser. Refresh or switch puzzles to resume. Storage denial keeps progress only in the current page session.
