How to play Number Match

  1. Tap two numbered squares. The numbers must be equal or total 10, and all squares between them on an allowed path must be empty.
  2. Allowed paths run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. A pair can also wrap in reading order: left to right, then the next row, with no remaining number between the pair.
  3. Fully empty rows disappear after each match. Numbers in surviving rows keep their column positions; partially empty rows remain.
  4. Add numbers copies the remaining numbers in reading order into fresh rows below the board, starting at column 1. Any unused spaces in the last new row stay empty. You have two adds per puzzle.
  5. Clear every number to finish. Hint shows a legal pair right now; it does not promise a winning route. Undo reverses matches, row removal, or adds. Restart resets only the current puzzle after confirmation.

Controls

Tap two numbered squares, or use Tab/arrows to move and Enter/Space to select. Escape clears selection, H shows a legal-pair hint, and Z or Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes. Add numbers is a visible button with the remaining allowance.

A few good moves

  • A pair of fives works both ways: the numbers are equal and total 10.
  • Look for pairs that become connected when you remove numbers between them.
  • A row’s last remaining number can connect to the next row’s first remaining number in reading order.
  • An add duplicates only the numbers still present. Undo restores an add as well as the allowance.

Each puzzle saves its numbers, remaining adds, selection and up to 200 undo steps separately in this browser. Switching puzzles preserves progress. With storage unavailable, saves still last within the current page session, including when switching puzzles.

About this game

An independent number-pair game with original starting boards, code and artwork created for Puzzle Grove.
